BETTY L. (AUVILLE) MULLINS

Betty L. (Auville) Mullins, 82, of Rockford passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019, in SwedishAmerican Hospital, after a hard fight against cancer.  Born October 9, 1936, in Coon Branch, WV, the daughter of David Samuel and Martha Elizabeth (Johnson) Auville.  Betty began a career as a teacher and taught for one year before she married Herbert Mullins. After Herbert’s passing, she married Robert Faist in 2003. Later in life, Betty worked in various roles of childcare, daycare and most recently daycare director.  She enjoyed being a part of school plays during her high school years.  Betty enjoyed raising a family, was a great mother and loved her children.  Betty had a strong determination and constitution to fight and continue her independence.  She loved her coffee group; they were upset when Perkins Restaurant closed.  Betty continued joining her coffee group up until about a month before her passing.  She was an avid reader.  Betty saw a photo of her great-granddaughter who was born the same day she passed away.  She was a very hospitable person, always welcoming visitors with food, open arms and a place to stay.  Betty was known for playing tricks on her brothers.  She enjoyed water aerobics and her friends.  Member of the Ladies Auxiliary with the Gideons which she was very involved with the group.  Survivors include her children, Roy (Darlene) Mullins, David (Cherrie Cleveland) Mullins, Steven Mullins, Linda (Tom) Olson and Charles (Kim) Mullins; grandchildren, David (Tiffany), Brittany (Ryan), Brooke (Cory), Crystal, Amy, Killian and Logan; great-grandchildren, Sean, Bode, Brooklyn, Nya and Callie; siblings, Jack Auville, Larry (Mary) Auville, Nancy Belew and Sheila (Billy) Johnson; special friends, Laurie and Anna.  Predeceased by husbands Herbert and Robert; brothers, Robert, Doug and Richard; and sister-in-law, Sylvia.
