AMY HATFIELD KIBBEY

Amy Hatfield Kibbey, 55, of Welch, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 29, 2019 following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  She was born in Williamson, WV on March 24, 1964 and was the daughter of the late Randall Hatfield, Sr. and Christine  Hodge Hatfield  of Welch, WV.

Amy graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor’s degree and earned her master’s degree from Radford University in speech pathology.   She served as a speech pathologist for McDowell County Schools and McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Methodist Church with membership at the First United Methodist Church in Welch, WV. She radiated positivity throughout her illness and never stopped putting others before herself.  She dearly loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and the color purple.

She is survived by her daughter, Erica Lucas  and husband, Joshua Watts of Daniels, WV;  mother, Christine Hodge Hatfield of Welch; sister, Carolyn H. Falin and husband, David Falin of Welch; sister, Millie Williams and husband, Paul of Clemmons, NC; brother, Randall Lee Hatfield, Jr. and wife, Rachel of Kensington, CT.  Two grandchildren: Joshua Jr. and Hunter Watts.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Amy’s life will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Welch, WV with Rev. Olen Butcher-Winfree officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, Welch from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 416, Welch, WV 24801 or the McDowell County Commission on Aging, 725 Stewart Street, Welch, WV 24801.
