Ronald E. “Ronnie” Barnett Sr., age 60, a long time resident of Kimball, WV who departed this life early on Saturday morning, October 12, 2019 at CAMC General Division in Charleston, WV. Ronnie was born December 10, 1958 in Welch, and the son of the late Mary E. Barnett Johnson Via and John “June” Martin. He was a 1977 graduate of Welch High School and a member of Emanuel Tabernacle Church in Kimball. He was a member of F.&A.M. Lodge No. 13. For many years, he was employed by the H.C. Lewis Company and had worked as a coal truck driver. For approximately four years, he lived and worked in Arlington, Texas, before moving back home to Kimball. He enjoyed watching the Westerns and Nascar racing on television, and was known as an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Deborah Jackson Barnett; three brothers: Timothy Johnson, Anthony Martin and Charles Hill; granddaughter, Jaden Barnett; special niece, Danielle Johnson; and his grandparents, Odell Smith, Katie Bell Barnett and John and Frances Martin, also a cousin, Donald Martin.
He leaves heartfelt memories to: his wife, Sharon K. Lawson Barnett of Kimball; his children: Ronald E. Barnett Jr., and Antonio Barnett both of Kimball, Jonathan Barnett of Princeton, WV, Tamira (Herman) Hightower of Concord, NC and LeTeshia Barnett of Arlington, TX and stepson, Jason Lawson of Kimball; grandchildren: Raheem Sawyers, LaVon, Devin and Elijah Hightower and Jb’eon Barnett; stepfather, Clarence Via of Northfork, WV; his siblings: Curtis (Jeneatte) Barnett Sr. of Prarie, TX, Ellis Barnett Sr., and Steven Via both of Kimball, Cynthia Johnson-Robinson of Dallas, TX; George Martin, Arnold Martin, Clarence Hill, Richard Hill, John Martin, Frances Hill-McLeod and Frances Martin; one aunt, Patricia Taylor of Milwaukee and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; other relatives and friends.
Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Miracle Mt. Carmel Church of God in Kimball, with the Reverend George Masterson eulogist and Pastor Georgia Smith presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and Masonic rites will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park 3410 Coal Heritage Road in Bluefield. His sons and brothers will serve as pallbearers.
