Frank Beamer Hughes, 74 of Big Sandy passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Welch Community Hospital in Welch. Born July 20, 1945 in Welch, he was the son of the late Mary Church Hughes and Walter Reuben Hughes.
Frank was a coalminer for 26 years. He enjoyed going to the Pentecostal Holiness Church and praising the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons Frank Hughes Jr. and Rex Allen Hughes; four brothers, Harold Junior Hughes, Roy Hughes, Billy Hughes and Jack Hughes; two sisters, Della May Hughes and Shirley Hughes.
Let to cherish his memory are three sons, Thomas, Vince and Walter Hughes all of Big Sandy; two daughters, Katessa Stevens and husband Virgil of Iaeger and Angela Allen of Princeton; two brothers, Harry Truman Hughes and wife Naomi of Big Sandy and Herman Ray Hughes of Beckley; six sisters, Betty Mullins of Gilbert, Bonnie Lewis and husband Oliver of Princeton, Sally Rotenberry of Welch, Ruby Coleman of Hinton, Nancy Patterson and husband William of Tazewell, VA, and Maggie Lester and husband Michael of Hanover; thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 1 PM from the Big Sandy Lighthouse Church in Big Sandy with Pastor Marie Bolden and Evangelist Billy Ward, officiating. Burial will follow in the England Cemetery in Hensley Hollow.
Friends may call at the church Sunday from 11 AM until 1 PM. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The Douglas Mortuary in Welch is assisting the Hughes family.
