RAY R. BAKER

Funeral Service will be held for Ray R. Baker age 79, who resided at 83 Virginia Avenue in Welch, WV and departed this life on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in the comforts of his home. He was born September 19, 1940 in Pocahontas, VA  and the son of the late Ettrabell Baker and James Toller.  He was a graduate of Tazewell,High School and a Veteran of the U.S. Army..  He had lived in Kimball before moving to Welch, over 30 years ago.  His was last employed as a Counselor at the Boys’ Home in Leckie, WV.  Ray was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Welch and the F.&A.M. Lodge in Kimball.  Ray enjoyed attending Church and his pastimes were spent watching football games and the westerns on television.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosie Baker; brother, James Baker and sisters:  Ethel Saunders, Wasella Baker and Maxine Stanton.  

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Dawson Baker of Welch and children:  Andre’ Baker of Beckley, WV, Celestine Smith of Winston-Salem, NC, Shaun Baker of Fort Worth, TX, Sonya Baker of the home and Maddox Baker of Welch; his nine siblings:  Raymond (Iris) of Greensboro, NC, Ralph of San Diego, CA, Robert of Oceanside, CA, Reginald (Sabrina) Pasadena, CA, Richard of the home; Benny (Ethel)  and Todd Nemore both of Oceanside, CA, Eva Dickerson of the home and Sandra (Michael) Ingram of Oceanside, CA;12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three generations of nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends. 

Service will be held for Ray R. Baker at 11:00 a.m., on Friday November 8, 2019 at Miracle Mt. Carmel Church of God in Kimball, with the Reverend George Masterson officiating and Pastor Georgia Smith, presiding.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., until the time of Service at the Church.  Interment at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery 5550 Bagging Plant Road in Dublin, VA, where burial rites will be conducted.  Serving as pallbearers are his nephews.
