Thornton Lewis Woolridge, age 46, of Dublin, VA passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Welch, WV on April 20, 1973 and was the son of Kenneth Wayne and Maggie Payne Woolridge of Skygusty, WV.
Thornton graduated from Mount View High School in 1991. He continued his education at Bluefield State College and received his Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering and his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His last employment was at Kik Customs Products, Inc. at Salem, VA.
Thornton was a 30 year cancer survivor and he loved his family, his beautiful wife Melissa, the Pittsburg Steelers, Reading Books, Claytor Lake and all his fur babies. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Josephine Simms Woolridge, Charlie Bill and Beulah Altizer Payne, and Thurman Hoback, also three uncles, Jerry Dean Woolridge and Thornton L. Woolridge (his name sake) and Alex James Payne; and one aunt, Berdine Warden Payne.
Those left to thank God for the time spent with Thornton include his loving wife of 21 years, Melissa Renee Marrs Woolridge, his parents, Kenneth Wayne and Maggie Marie Payne Woolridge, aunts Sandra and Carl Camden of Forest, VA, Carol Woolridge of Skygusty, WV, Sherry Payne Osborne of Kenova, WV, and his uncle William E. Payne of Jonesboro, AR; his brother and sister in love Nick and Etta Woolridge Marrs; special nephew Bradi Marrs; special niece Cheridan Marrs all of Skygusty, WV; his other parents Roney and Kathryn Hoback Marrs of Brewsterdale, WV and his special Nanny Elsie Hoback of Skygusty, WV and Cousins Michael Payne and wife Tammy, Loren Payne, Brett Payne and wife Bailey all of Jonesboro, AR., Jamie Payne Bayne and husband Rus and their son Donald Ray Bayne of Kenova, WV.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ in Skygusty, WV. The funeral services will be at the church on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM, with Pastors Carson and Kay Linkous of Pulaski County, VA, officiating. Burial will follow at the Brewsterdale Cemetery at Brewsterdale, WV.
Pallbearers will be Nick Marrs, Bradi Marrs, Michael Payne, Jamie Pennington, Lonnie Ball and Ryan Dillon. Honorary Pallbearers will be his uncles William E. Payne and Carl Camden.
The Douglas Mortuary of Welch will be serving the Woolridge family.
