ANAWALT, WV – On January 14th, 2020, Deputies from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office responded to Anawalt on an Animal Cruelty complaint.
Upon investigation, Deputies found that Crystal Copely, 32, had thrown live puppies into the creek. Deputy D.T. Martin signed warrants for Felony Animal Cruelty and arrested Copely two days later on January 16th, 2020.
Copely was arraigned before Magistrate Steve Cox and a bond of $10,000 was set. She was remanded into the McDowell County Holding Unit awaiting transport to the Southwestern Regional Jail.
