Repeat Arrest in Anawalt Animal Cruelty Case

ANAWALT, WV – After being arrested earlier this month on animal cruelty charges, an Anawalt woman was arrested once again for failure to appear for criminal trial.

Crystal Copley, of Anawalt, was arrested by Deputies of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office on January 14th after receiving an animal cruelty complaint. Upon investigation, Deputies found that Copley had thrown live puppies in the creek.

On January 30th, Crystal Copley of Anawalt, after due notice, failed to appear for a criminal trial at the McDowell County Magistrate Court.

The Court, upon the State’s motion, issued a capias for the defendant’s failure to appear. Deputies from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office returned to Copley’s home, bringing her in for a second time.

As of press time, Copley was still in custody of law enforcement with a $1,000 cash only bond set.
