
BLUEFIELD – In a rare game played in the Bluefield High School gym, the Beavers jumped out to a 30-6 lead at the conclusion of the opening period Friday evening on the way to an 81-62 victory over Mount View.
Bluefield’s Tyrese Hairston scored 21 points to lead the Beavers, while Kaulin Parris and Jaheim House added a dozen points apiece. All three are seniors.
Sophomore Tony Bailey claimed game scoring honors with 22 points for the 5-10 Knights, followed by Malaki Bishop’s 14. Brendon Rotenberry and Thomas Bell chipped in 10 points each for the View.
All four of those twin digits scorers are sophomores for the rebuilding View.
The Beavers improved to 13-3 with the win.
The Golden Knights will host Montcalm tomorrow evening, while Bluefield captured the Class AA Big Atlantic Classic championship Saturday with a 90—43 win over Wyoming East.
