PINEVILLE, WV – High school seniors across Southern West Virginia now have a chance to kickstart those big, bright dreams of what they want out of life.
JJN Multimedia announced their 2020 Dream Booster Award via Facebook yesterday, with owner J.D. Belcher explaining what led the multimedia company to found the new contest.
“We’ve really been so lucky with the reception of our videos so we wanted to give something back,” said Belcher. “We wanted to invest in our future, the youth.”
Seniors are asked to make a 60 second video detailing the dream burning in their hearts for a chance to win $2,000 to pursue their goal.
Submissions will be accepted until March 1st via Facebook direct messages or by visiting jjnmultimedia.com.
“I know how hard it was for me to start out, when all of your paycheck went for bills and gas,” said J.D. Belcher. “I hope that this just creates a little cushion for someone out there to pursue the next great idea out to come out of southern West Virginia.”
After the submission window closes, a panel will narrow submissions down to 10 finalists, who will be announced on March 9th. The choice will fall to the people, with the winner being whichever video gains the most likes and shares on Facebook. Voting will come to a close on March 16th.
The winner will received a $1,000 check, plus another $1,000 to cover expenses related to pursuing their dream, such as books, equipment, fees. All dreams must involve college, trade school or business start-up goals.
Submissions featuring copyrighted material or music will not qualify in the contest. Contestants must be a high school senior from McDowell, Wyoming, Mercer, Mingo, Logan, Raleigh, or Monroe County.
