NEW RICHMOND – The phrase, “Men among boys” is sometimes used to describe players for one athletic team dominating players from another.
That phrase took on literal, as well as figurative meaning Friday evening, as a senior-dominated Bluefield Beaver team took a 94-44 victory over a very young Wyoming East Warrior squad led in scoring that evening by a sophomore and a pair of freshmen.
At the other end of the court, a quartet of Beavers scored in double figures to help Bluefield to its 18th win of the season in 21 starts.
Sean Martin led the way for the Beavers with 21 points while Braden Crews finished with 19. Caden Fuller added 12 and Tyrese Hairston netted 10.
Freshman Jacob Howard was the high scorer for the 6-14 Warriors, followed by sophomore Tucker Cook and freshman Chandler Johnson, who added 8 points each.
The contest was the season finale for Bluefield, winners of its last 12 games.
East will close out the regular season tomorrow evening with a visit to Westside, after having hosted Lincoln Saturday afternoon.
