Wyoming East and Westside Advance In Class AA Sectional

NEW RICHMOND – Westside doubled up Oak Hill 43-21 and Wyoming East rolled past Independence 85-27 Monday evening to advance to the Class AA Region III Section 1 finals this evening at 7 pm at Wyoming East High School.

In the opener Monday, Westside took an 18-2 lead at the end of the inaugural chapter on the way to claiming the Lady Renegades 16th win in 23 starts.
Senior Riana Kenneda paced Westside with 16 points, while senior MaKenzie King led the Lady Red Devils with 10 points.
Oak Hill concluded its campaign with a 9-12 worksheet.
In the nightcap, sophomore Daisha Summers led the 15-5 Lady Warriors with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Junior Sky Davidson followed with 13 points, 8 assists and 7 steals.
Freshman Abby Russell also netted 13 and sophomore Hannah Blankenship scored 12.
As in the opening game between Westside and Oak Hill, East jumped out to a huge first quarter lead to break the game open early.
The Lady Warriors led 31-4 after the initial 8 minutes.
Senior MaKenzie Holley and junior Alexis Clark both scored a dozen points to pace the 4-16 Lady Patriots.
Twelve Lady Warriors got into the scoring act, while only three Independence players scored.
