
PRINCETON – The Shady Spring Tigers, rated atop the Class AA boys’ basketball rankings for much of
the just-completed 2019-20 regular season, put it all together Tuesday evening in a 107-54 Class AA Region III
Section 2 semifinal victory over River View.
Brothers Braden and Cole Chapman scored 23 and 17 points respectively for the 22-1 Tigers, while Tommy
Williams added 12 and Grayson Shepherd contributed 10.
Shady opened a 35-7 advantage at the end of the opening frame.
Senior Kobe Halstead topped the Raiders, who concluded their season 12-10, with 14 points, with junior
Chase Porter tossing in 11.
The Tigers finished the contest with 14 treys, while the Raiders canned a dozen from behind the arc.
Shady Spring and Bluefield, winner of Tuesday’s other semifinal 91-71 over PikeView, will square off Friday
at Princeton at 7 pm for the sectional title.
