
CLEAR FORK – The Westside Lady Renegades advanced to next week’s girls’ high school
state basketball tournament last evening with a 54-40 Class AA Region II Co-final victory
over the visiting Bluefield Lady Beavers.
Senior Riana Kenneda paced the 18-7 Westside team with 22 points, followed by 14 and
12 points respectively by fellow seniors Makayla Morgan and Hannah Toler.
Senior Jaisah Smith tied Kenneda for game scoring honors with 22 for the Lady Beavers,
who conclude their season 12-12.
The Lady Renegades trailed 7-4 after the initial frame before exploding to outscore their
guests 17-10 in the second quarter and 18-10 over the final eight minutes to claim the victory.
Westside will face Winfield next Wednesday at 1:30 in the tourney’s quarterfinal round.
