WILCOE, WV – McDowell County Health Department is reporting that two residents who previously tested positive for COVID-19 have now recovered and are out of quarantine. This is in addition to the three cases that recovered earlier this week.
The total of the McDowell County residents who have recovered is now at five.The Health Department would like to remind the public that to be considered fully recovered, the CDC says the following must occur:
1. At least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since recovery defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications.
2. Improvement in respiratory symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath)
3. At least 7 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.There have been zero deaths related to COVID-19 in McDowell County.
To date approximately 160 tests have been administered and 5 results are pending.
