Anna L. Bailey, 96, of Statesville, NC, formerly of Panther and Bluefield, WV, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Gordon’s Hospice House in Statesville, NC.

Anna was born April 3, 1924 in War Eagle, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Bertha Blankenship Lawson.  She was the owner/operator of the Iaeger Cash Market and a member of the Bethany Regular Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents Anna was preceded in death by her husband Roland Bailey, one son, Richard Bailey; three brothers, Raymond, Fred, and Walter “Punk” Lawson; and five sisters, Pearl Bailey, Edith Davis, Alma Gobble, Wilma Hatfield and Irene Lawson.  

Survivors include one son, Thomas Bailey and wife Terrie of Statesville, NC; two grandchildren, Matthew Bailey of Marion, VA and Megan Bailey of Jacksonville, FL; one great grandchild, Parker Bailey of Marion, VA; one brother, Charles Lawson and wife Jackie of Iaeger, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, May 8, 2020 at 1 o’clock with Elder Roger Walker officiating at the Bailey Cemetery on Lower Long Pole near Panther, WV; burial will follow.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
