According to Gary Police Chief S.P. “Pat” McKinney, a police memorial to honor officers killed in the line of duty will be dedicated Saturday, May 16th at noon at Gary City Hall.
The memorial will feature a black base with a thin blue line across it. An American Flag, Police Memorial Flag, West Virginia Flag and a Missing POW flag will eventually adorn the memorial.
The initial phase is currently in progress and enough will be done to have a ceremony with additional items being brought in as time passes.
A dedication service will be held Saturday, May 16 at 12 noon at the Gary City Hall with Pastor Virgil Green of the Gary Pentecostal Holiness Church presenting the evocation and prayer. Chief McKinney and other Law Enforcement officials will then offer remarks.
The public is invited with social distancing standards urged.
