Heroin and Neglected Animals Found During Drug Arrest

HAVACO, WV – On Saturday, May 16th, 2020 at approx 12:50 a.m., Deputies with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office along with Troopers with the Welch Detachment of the West Virginia State Police conducted a search warrant in the Havaco area of McDowell County.

Upon executing the search warrant, Police found a quantity of Heroin along with firearms, cash and neglected animals. Deputies arrested a Steven Brown, 22, and a Richard Nemore, 59.

Steven Brown was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Schedule I, Felony Conspiracy, Maintaining a Dwelling to sell a controlled Substance, Animal Cruelty x3.

Richard Nemore was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Schedule I, Felony Conspiracy, Maintaining a Dwelling to sell a controlled substance and Prohibited person/firearm.

Both Persons were arraigned before Magistrate Steve Cox Richard Nemore Bonds was set at $36,000 and Steven Browns bond was set at $33,000 both made bond and are currently awaiting trial.

The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office is working with a local animal rescue to find placement for the dogs.
