Jessie Lee Matney, 65, of Coalwood passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born December 1, 1954 in War, WV, he was the son of the late Nodie Underwood Matney and Virgil Matney.
Jessie was a disabled avid antique collector of tools, guns and old money, and he attended the Berwind Pentecostal Community Church in Berwind.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Cecil Matney.
Left to cherish his memories are three brother, Lawrence Matney and wife Dolly of Newhall, Raymond Matney and Kenneth Matney both of Coalwood; three sisters, Lena Hicks of Berwind, Hazel Curry and husband Joe of Bandy, VA, Mary Falgiani and husband Quinto of War; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 3 PM from the Berwind Pentecostal Community Church with Pastor Randy “Bub” Campbell and Rev. Joe Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell.
Friends may call at the church Thursday from 1 PM to 3 PM.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
