MS. DONNA L. STAPLES


Ms. Donna L. Staples age 68, a life long resident of Welch, WV, who departed this life on Friday, June 5, 2020 at the Westwood Center in Bluefield, VA,  was born September 23, 1951 in Welch, and the daughter of the late Broden Staples Sr., and Annie R. Cunningham Staples.  She was a graduate of Welch High School, had worked at the Welch Work shop and was a homemaker. Donna enjoyed crocheting, watching the cooking channels listening to music and visiting with the other residents at “the Towers.”  As a child, Donna grew up attending St. James Missionary Baptist  Church in Welch. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and four of her brothers:  Darryl, Danny, Charles “Boogie,” and Broden  Staples Jr.  Donna will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. 
She leaves a lifetime of treasured memories to her daughters, Tara L. Staples and Aretha L. Staples both of Welch;  one brother, Samuel (Ella) Staples of Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Phyllis Staples of Maryland; her grandchildren:  Kenneth Brown Jr., Kobe Brown, Keishawn (her Moon) Lewis and Aniya Staples; two great-granddaughters, Gabriella and Serenity Brown; her nephews and nieces: Kenny Davis, Samuel Staples, Alicia (Chris) Wellons and Tabitha Staples and their children; several generations of cousins, other relatives and friends, which includes, special friends:  Ernest Brown of Maryland, Shawntonyia Hightower, her caregiver of Jenkinjones, WV and Tonya Walker Harper of Welch.
A Service in loving memory of Donna will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 12, 2020 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, with the Reverend George Masterson officiating.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.
