Arthur Dellmore Short and Anna Ruth (Lockhart) Short were united as one in their marriage on June 6, 1960 at Lebanon, VA. They spent their first three years in Chicago, IL and the rest in Welch, WV. Arthur is the son of the late Hughes & Mary (Short) Walls of Avondale, WV and the late biological father John Richardson of Denville, NJ. Anna Ruth is the daughter of the late Hobart and Maudy (Kennedy) Lockhart of Panther, WV.
They have two sons: Robert Daniel (Micki Cline) Short of Iaeger, WV and Howard Dean (Regina Pennington) Short of Welch, WV; seven grandchildren: Tabitha (Bobby) Stout, Samantha (Chris) Shafer, Jeannie Short, Matthew Short (deceased 12-28-16), Kourtney (John) Neal, Kassee (Howard) Gibson, and Danielle Carlson; ten great-grandchildren: Kaedence Justice, Aiden, Aubrey, and Colton Neal, Abbagayle, Kaylan, Evan and Joshua Gibson, Jaxson and Gabriel Carlson; five step-grandchildren: Jacob Cline and Tara (Jacob) Matney, Curt (Beth) Edens III, Nicole Edens, and Natalie Sparks; seven step great-grandchildren: Lekeita Cline, Malaya Justus, Harper and Sophia Matney, Sawyer Edens, Landon Edens, and Connor Neal.
The celebration took place at their Monroe County cabin in Waitville, WV on June 6, 2020 with thirty family members enjoying camping, eating delicious food, campfire, stories, swimming, bike riding, corn hole game, horseshoe pitching, target shooting, and a walk to Paw Paw’s deer hunting stand (each little one climbing up high above the ground to observe the inside).
Highlights of their lives together included: Working for retail furniture sales and teaching, traveling by RV, planes, or vehicle to all 50 states, visiting many foreign countries, five cruises, dining out on many special family occasions, attending churches of Old Regular Baptist from Michigan to Florida, enjoying our extended family and friends, and watching our family grow. We thank our Savior for the many, many blessings.
