DEACON LEE A. JENNINGS

Deacon Lee A. Jennings age 65, and a life long resident of Northfork, WV, who departed this life on Saturday, June 13, 2020 surrounded by his family in the comforts of his home.  He was born May 1, 1955 in Welch, WV, and the son of the late Charlie M. Sr. and Elizabeth L. (Moss) Jennings.  

He was a graduate of Northfork High School, Class of 1973.  After graduating, he began working  as a coal miner at Eastern Associated Coal Company in Keystone, WV.  For a number of years, he was employed by the Council of Southern Mountains in Welch, WV, as a Weatherization Field Inspector and until declining health was employed by the WV Department of Highways.  He was a member and Deacon of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Worth, WV, where he was often called upon to do a Harmony of the Scriptures.  Lee loved the Lord and his most favorite hymn was “Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross.”  He was truly blessed with both faith and favor.  Throughout his health challenges he never complained.  He was an avid fan of sports, westerns and game shows.    

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie M. Jennings Jr.  

He leaves a life time of cherished memories to his devoted wife of 44 years, Kathryn Jennings and their children:  Jarrod (Jenelle) Brooks of Charleston, WV, Nicole (David Sr.)  Hickman of Upland, WV, John Charles Jennings of Huntington, WV, James Lee (Ty’lecia) Jennings of Columbus, OH and Sonya Sims of NC; two sisters, Diana L. Brown of Brooklyn, NY and Charmie (William) Carrington of Keystone, WV; eight grandchildren, with one grandchild due in December; four great-grandchildren; another brother, Walter J. Anderson of Columbus, OH; his sisters-in-law:  Rochelle (Nathaniel), Darlene (Butch) and April (Steven) and brothers-in-law, Michael (Arnetta) and Vain (Jim), a host of nephews, nieces and cousins; which includes a special cousin, Phyllis Jennings; his Church family; many friends and special friends:  Charles Burger, John Hairston, David Hickman Sr., and Mike Wray.   

Deacon Jennings’ Homegoing Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Hairston, officiating; assisted by: Pastors:  John Hale, Donna Jackson and Jerome Powell.  Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6605 New Hope Road, in Bluewell, WV.  Pallbearers:  Michael Brooks, Rashawn Brooks, Torrell and Latrell Hairston, Dewayne Lane, Kareem and Koshan Perkins.  Honorary pallbearers:  Deacons, Seward Bush and Ellis Bryson and William Carrington.   Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.
