Welch Fireman’s Memorial Ceremony Tomorrow

WELCH, WV – The Welch Fireman’s Memorial Dedication and Fireman’s Day Parade have completed their event scheduling according to Welch Fire Department Public Relations Officer S. P. “Pat” McKinney.

“We have word from Mayor McBride he will attend if at all possible and all our other presenters have firmly commited to be there,” said McKinney.

Mayor McBride is expected to address the crowd, followed by McKinney giving a brief history of the project. Next Johnny Gail Pennington; Pastor of the Roderfield Christian Church will deliver a benediction. Miss Lilly Comer will then deliver a song of memorial and McKinney will close the ceremony out.

Immediately following the ceremony, participants will line up at the North Welch Church of God and the Fireman’s Parade will travel down Stewart Street by Martha Moore Park and out Virginia Avenue to McDonald’s.

“We always have people standing and parked along the way. Sometimes you see grandparents and grand children standing on the porches to watch the parade pass,” commented McKinney about previous parades.

The ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 4th at Welch Volunteer Fire Department’s Station 2 in Edmore Village with the parade to follow.
