WILMA LEA ADAMS


Wilma Lea Adams, 68 of Berwind, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at her residence. Born March 24, 1952 in War, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cloie Hale Hicks and Ruben Hicks Jr.
Wilma attended Big Creek High School and she was member of the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church. She was also a cook for the McDowell County Board of Education for 17 years.
In addition to her parents Wilma was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Lee Hicks and Charles Edward Hicks; three sisters, Fronie Graham, Shelby Jean Hicks and Wanda Ford.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Billy Wayne Adams Sr. of the home, one son, Billy Wayne Adams Jr. and wife Lori of Bonaire, GA; one daughter, Linda Adams Brigham and husband Damon of Berwind; one brother, Rudolph Hicks and wife Elvia of Newhall; four sisters, Gail Rutherford and husband Tommy of War, Kaylene Adams of St. Albans, Jackie Mitchell and husband Howard of Newhall and Mary Wessinger of Columbia, SC; one brother-in-law, James Adams and wife Connie of Tazewell, VA; two sisters-in-law, Betty Dougaree of Chester, MD and Joyce Adams of War; three grandchildren, Shelby Nicole Adams, Haley Sierra Adams and Paige Makenzie Adams; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be conducted Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 8:00 PM from the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake with the Reverend Darrell Long officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the church from 6 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
Following the wishes of the deceased the body has been cremated.
