Charlie Kennedy 81, of Jolo, WV, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 13, 2020.
Charlie was born December 3, 1938 a son of the late Randolph and Alliefair Kennedy of Jolo, WV. He met the love of his life and best friend, Thelma Stacy; they were married November 26, 1960. Thelma passed away May 27, 2011 after a long illness. No matter where she had to go for treatment or what hospital she was in, Charlie was always by her side. The memory of their love still lives on in their children. Charlie worked in the coal mines and was the Pastor of the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ on Atwell Mountain. He enjoyed singing Gospel music, working in his garden and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife Charlie was preceded in death by, three infant siblings, and one brother, J.D. Kennedy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Charles A. Kennedy of the home, Kenneth E. Kennedy of the home, Teresa Clay and fiancée Eric Stear of Pinnacle, NC, Steven Kennedy and wife Ann of Jolo, WV, Kevin Kennedy of Asheboro, NC, and Tammy Horn and husband Brian of Honaker, VA; grandchildren, Krista and Steven Kime of Climax, NC, Adrian Clay Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Asheboro, NC, Steven Wayne Kennedy and fiancée Emily Brown of Rock, WV, Ryan Clay of Ramseur, NC, Savannah Morgan Kennedy, Matthew Lee Kennedy, and Seth Kennedy all of Asheboro, NC, Denise and Chris Kinney and Breanna and Roy Pruitt all of Pikeville, KY; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Kennedy of Jolo, WV, and Meredith Tuggle of Hagerstown, MD; brother, James Rufus Kennedy of English, WV, a special niece, Connie Pruitt of Jolo, WV, numerous additional nieces and nephews; and close friends Lena Day and Louis Short of Atwell, WV and Swanson Blankenship of Jolo, WV.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 17, 2020 at 12 o’clock with Evangelist, Hobert Kennedy, Reverend Dennis Wimmer, Reverend Doug Lowe and Reverend Jimmy Kelly officiating at the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ on Atwell Mountain. Burial will follow in the Goodman Cemetery at Buckeye near Jolo, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, evening July 16, 2020 after 6 p.m. at the Mt. Carmel Church of Christ, services will be held at 7 p.m.
In accordance with Covid-19 guidelines mask are to be worn and social distancing is to be practiced.
