The former Arthurdale High School was located in Preston County.
The story of the community of Arthurdale is a most interesting one. Envisioned by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, the community was founded with the hopes of it being a modern, self-sustaining entity.
Although it achieved moderate success, it never reached the pinnacle Mrs. Roosevelt envisioned.
The high school closed in 1956.
The Arthurdale athletic teams were appropriately known as the Pioneers.
