Mrs. Dorothy O. Williams Lindsey age 82, a life long resident of Hemphill, WV, who peacefully departed this life early on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at the McDowell Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Gary, WV, was born in Hemphill on June 17, 1938. She was the daughter of the late America and Charles Williams Sr. She was a Kimball High School graduate. For a number of years, she was employed at the Council of Southern Mountains in Welch, WV, where she was a head start teacher, a cook and retired as a nutrition coordinator. She was a member of (the former) Mt. Grove Baptist Church in Hemphill, where she faithfully served as the Church clerk and wherever needed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Lindsey Sr. (on July 12, 2020,) one daughter, Pamela Lindsey; her siblings: Lois Bailey, Alberta Easley, Ethel Brown, Rebecca Harper, Louise Pompey and Charles Williams Jr. She leaves a life time of cherished memories to her children: William D. (Pam) Lindsey Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Charles D. Lindsey of Bedford, OH, Patricia (Michael Sr.) Lindsey-Vaughn of Hemphill and Curtis D. Lindsey of the home; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two -great- great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley (Lawrence) Hall of Warrensville Heights, OH; one brother-in-law, Joseph Lindsey; her sisters-in-law: Rena Logan, Linda Cameron, Parthenia Harrell, Gracie (Quentin) White all of Columbus, OH and Pam Lindsey of Bluefield, VA; a host of nephews, nieces and special friends: Dolores (Leroy) Johnson of Gary, WV, Kim Culbertson and Rosa Smith both of Hemphill. Mrs. Lindsey’s Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the (former Mt. Grove Baptist Church) Helping Hands Holiness Church in Hemphill, WV, with the Reverend George Masterson officiating. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell, WV. Her Family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., until the time of Service at the Church. Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV.
