WELCH, W.Va. – On Sunday, August 23rd, 2020 in the morning hours deputies conducted two traffic stops in the Welch area of McDowell County.
One of the stops was a Alicia Rowe of Berwind. During the stop, Deputies found a quantity of Heroin and Methamphetamine and she was placed under arrest. She was charged with No Seatbelt, Unlawful Possession of a Schedule I controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II controlled Substance.
Rowe was arraigned before Magistrate Daniel Mitchell and a bond of $2000.00 was set. She made bond and is awaiting trial.
The second traffic stop conducted on a Derrick Matney of Caretta.
After investigation, deputies found a large amount of Heroin and Crack cocaine. He was arrested and charged with Failure to yield at a stop sign, DUI, Driving Revoked DUI, Battery on a police officer, Obstructing an Officer, Possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession with intent to deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, Maintaining a vehicle for the sale of controlled substance.
Matney was arraigned before Magistrate Daniel Mitchell and a bond of $52000.00 was set. He was remanded into the McDowell County Holding Unit awaiting transport to the Southwestern Regional Jail.
