WILCOE, W.Va. – McDowell County Health Department Officials have confirmed ONE additional case of COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon August 25, 2020, bringing the overall total cases to seventy-six with eighteen being active.
The one new case today is attributed to travel.
“Our eighteen active cases are located throughout the county. Currently one of our active cases are hospitalized with none of those being on a ventilator,” said Health Department officials Tuesday afternoon. “The Health Department is working to identify all contacts to this new case. Anyone who is identified as being a contact will be notified by the Health Department. If you are identified as an official contact by the Health Department, please follow all guidelines given to you. Following these guidelines will help to protect others and helps to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.”
The McDowell County Health Department urges all residents to do your part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings, avoiding large crowds, and washing your hands frequently. The Health Department will continue to keep you updated on this fluid situation through Facebook as well as through local media partners.
