Nell Payne Davis Byrd, 95 years of age of Jolo, WV, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Rhoda Mullins Payne. She was a longtime resident of McDowell County and was of the Christian faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Cornelius Davis, her second husband, Earlie Byrd; 1-Son: Robert Chris Davis; Daughter-in-Law: Martha Davis; Sisters: Barbara Valdez, Tennessee Payne, Clemma Hughes, Laura Vance, Bertha Elliot, Evy Kennedy and Mary Payne; Brothers: Albert James “A.J.” Payne, John Payne, Bill Payne and Junior Payne.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Patricia Davis (James) Vance of Paynesville, WV, Carol Davis Mullins of Paynesville, WV, Larry Davis of Paynesville, WV; Daughter-in-Law: Debbie Davis of Grundy, VA; 1-Sister: Viola Hendrick of Elkton, MD.
Also, survived by 11-Grandchildren, 25-Great-Grandchildren and 20-Great-Great-Grandchildren, as well as, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for NELL PAYNE DAVIS BYRD will be conducted Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Noon at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Freddie Vance officiating with burial to follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
