Hazel T. Murensky, 94, of Welch, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at her residence. Born August 30, 1926 in Havaco, she was the daughter of the late Dallas R. Tolley and Frances Marie Hammitt Tolley.
Hazel was a graduate of Lewis Gale School of Nursing (Jefferson College) in Roanoke, Virginia. She was a registered nurse and former employee of the Grace Hospital in Welch. She was also a former RN with the McDowell County Health Dept and she retired from the McDowell County Board of Education in 1988 as a school health coordinator. Hazel was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Welch.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Judge Rudolph J. Murensky; two brothers, Fred N. Tolley and Robert “Bob” Tolley.
Those left to cherish her memories are one son, Rudolph “Rick” Murensky and wife Sandy of Welch; one daughter, Susan Ann Murensky of Charleston; three brothers, David R. Tolley and wife Jessie of Charleston, Elmer Wade Tolley and wife Mitzie of Claytor Lake, VA, Samuel Tolley and wife Patricia of Albuquerque, NM; and one sister, Margaret Ann Whitaker and husband Earl of Denton, NC.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 1:30 PM from the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Patricia Diane Hall, officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Attn, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Services will be held in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, mask are to be worn by all attending and social distancing is to be practiced. Group size must be held to 25 people or less.
