COAL CITY – For the second week in a row the Independence Patriots flexed their offensive muscles with the most recent display coming Friday evening in a 55-8 victory over the visiting River View Raiders.

Junior Atticus Goodson scored five touchdowns on only 11 rushing attempts and was joined by a trio of teammates who tallied a six-pointer each as the Pats moved to 2-0 on the season.
Goodson scored the initial three times Indy lit the scoreboard in the initial quarter before adding a pair of scoring jaunts in the third stanza.
Senior Austin Cooper kept the Raiders from being shutout when he scored on a 10 yard burst in the fourth, followed by a two point conversion pass from sophomore Mikey Picklesimer to senior Chase Porter.
The Raiders, who won their season opener 22-0 over Montcalm fell to 1-1 with the loss and will be open this week before entertaining Van a week from Satiurday for their home opener.
Goodson ran 11 times for 150 yards along with his five scores.
Cooper paced the Raider ground game with 80 yards on 20 attemmpts.
