Golden Knights Shutout At Summers County

HINTON – The Summers County Bobcats took a trip down Memory Lane Friday evening, using the single-wing offense from more than half-century ago to roll up 21 points, while playing “lights out” defense to claim a 21-0 victory over Mount View.
The now 2-1 Bobcats scored in the opening frame on a three yard Markis Crawford run, followed by Logan Fox’s conversion kick, to take a 7-0 advantage at the half.
Sophomore Andrew Merriam-Harshaw tacked on a 12 yard TD in the third to extend the advantage to 13-0.
Senior Landon Richmond found the end zone from 40 yards out, with Crawford running the extra points, to claim the win.
The Golden Knights fell to 0-2 with the loss and will visit River View this Friday evening, after Tug Valley coming to the new Vic Nystrom Stadium was scrubbed when Saturday’s new metrics map sidelined Mingo County teams for the week.
River View will bring a 2-1 worksheet into the contest, fresh off a 32-8 decision Friday over the PikeView Panthers.
