Remembering Mary Avery

Mrs. Mary E. White Avery age 102, a life long resident of Northfork, WV, who peacefully transitioned this life on Friday, September 18, 2020 in Princeton, WV was born August 12, 1918 in Pulaski, VA. 

She was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Maggie (Page) White. After completing her education, she became a homemaker. 

Before beginning her Mission for Christ over 54 years ago, she was a former member of both Mt. Chapel Baptist Church in Keystone, WV and the First Baptist Church in Kimball, WV. She loved praising the Lord and reading her Bible.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1993 by the love of her life, her husband, William Avery. Also, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy O. Robinson, son-in-law, Charles Berry and her three brothers: Robert White, Nathaniel Page and Joe Lee White and four sisters: Mildred Howard, Dorothy Hawkins, Lena Hairston and Gladys Page. 

Mrs. Avery was the last surviving member of her original family. She leaves a life time of cherished memories to her daughter, Bural Berry of Philadelphia, PA; two granddaughters, Cheryl (Keith) Benion of Nashville, TN and Sharon Robinson of Philadelphia; four great-grandchildren: Tiffany Robinson, Kori, Saidah and Zuri Benion  and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Mrs. Avery’s Committal Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at  the Restlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell,WV with the Reverend Timothy Hairston officiant. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Mausoleum.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Services entrusted to Gregory-Page Funeral Home in Welch, WV  (to leave on line condolences:  www.gregory-pagefh.com.)  Social distancing and wearing of masks will be observed. 

In lieu of flowers, her request was donations to be made to St. Jude’s Hospital for children.
