Gary Litter Arrests Lead to Plea Agreements

GARY, W.Va. – Two Gary residents arrested earlier this year as part of the Gary Police Department’s joint efforts with the McDowell County Solid Waste Authority to clean up trash around the city entered in plea agreements last week.

Teresa Barker and Vince Wolf, were arrested for Conspiracy and Contributing to an Open Dump earlier this year.

Gary Police Chief S. P. “Pat ” McKinney says he was informed the two plead guilty to the charges and were placed on Probation after a sentence for a year in jail was suspended.

“They were given 60 days to get the dump cleaned up or they pull a year in jail,” said McKinney. “In addition, should they create another dump during the year’s probation, they will pull their year in jail regardless of charges on the second dumps or their outcome.”

McKinney indicated this court action would strengthen efforts in Gary.

“It grew difficult to point out a single burn barrel or couple bags of trash when there were tons of trash at their house,” said McKinney. “Now we can go back at the smaller dumps and get them.”
