Curtis Eugene Hicks, 70, of Capels, WV departed this life on Sunday, October 18, 2020. Born April 3, 1950 in Mohegan, WV, he was the son of the late Curtis T. Hicks and Juanita G. Hicks. A lifelong resident of McDowell County, Curtis owned his own business and served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, Curtis is preceded in death by two sons, Justin Lee Hicks and Judd Matthew Surface, one brother Ronald Hicks, and a grandmother, Maude, to whom he credited much of his raising.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary, his children Ceci (Anthony) Williams of Woodbridge VA, Cynthia Hicks of Durham, NC, Curtis Hicks Jr (Jessica) of Capels, David (Shannon) Hammond of Welch, Kurt (Kimberly) Hicks of Shabby Run, Stephanie (Jose) Soto of Welch, and Casey Hicks (Jonathan Potter) of Welch.  Three brothers, three sisters, Sixteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be a graveside service on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 1:00 PM, at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
