DEBORAH JEAN (FENLAND) WALKER


Deborah Jean (Penland) Walker, 68 of Spencer Curve, WV stepped into eternity to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 31, 2020. Born on November 20, 1951 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of Madeline and the late Charles Penland.
Debbi was a 1969 graduate of Gary High School. She was baptized at Long Point Missionary Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member. Debbi married the love of her life, Danny Robert Walker on December 21, 1974. Debbi’s roles as a devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother was her proudest accomplishments. In her life as a homemaker, she and Danny had two beautiful daughters, Dana Michelle and Denise Renee. Debbi enjoyed traveling for family vacations and big holiday celebrations. She loved singing and participated in the church choir in her younger years. Debbi had a large social media presence spreading encouragement, scriptures, and adorable photos of her grandchildren. She loved roses and the rose garden Danny provided for her. Debbi was a breast cancer survivor and a supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13.
Survivors include her loving husband, Danny Walker of the home; two daughters, Dana and husband Steve Heffinger of Leckie, WV and Denise Walker-Bragg of Jumping Branch, WV; mother, Madeline Penland of Pageton, WV; brother, Steven and wife Melissa Penland of Concord, NC; two granddaughters, Samantha and Taylor Heffinger; two grandsons, Ben and Noah Bragg; nephews, a niece, many cousins, and a special aunt, Norma Hart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Stephen Penland and sister, Sandra Kay Penland Dillon.
In accordance with her wishes, Debbi is being cremated and interred at Roselawn Cemetery. The family is having a small, private gathering to honor Debbi’s life. Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com. Cravens-Shires Funeral home in Bluewell, WV is serving the Walker family.
