WILCOE, W.Va. – McDowell County Health Department Officials have confirmed 77 additional cases of COVID-19 on Friday afternoon November 20, 2020, bringing the overall total cases to 569 with 360 being active. 62 of the new cases are associated with a confirmed outbreak, with the other 15 cases being attributed to community spread.

“Our 360 active cases are located throughout the county. Currently, 11 of our active cases are hospitalized with 2 of those being on a ventilator. PLEASE follow the recommended guidelines when you are out in public. The Health Department is working to identify all contacts to these cases. Anyone who is identified as being a contact will be notified by the Health Department. If you are identified as an official contact by the Health Department, please follow all guidelines given to you. Following these guidelines will help to protect others and helps to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The McDowell County Health Department urges all residents to do your part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings, avoiding large crowds, and washing your hands frequently. The Health Department will continue to keep you updated on this fluid situation through Facebook as well as through local media partners.
