WEST VIRGINIA – The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory across West Virginia today.
An area of low pressure will move northeast across West Virginia this morning. Steady rain will occur at times, although there may be some breaks in the rain as the low moves across.
Colder and windier conditions will then occur this afternoon with rain eventually changing over to snow by late in the day. Periods of light snow will be common tonight with accumulations likely nearly area wide.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the entire region tonight into Tuesday with a Winter Storm Warning in effect for the highest mountains.
Snow will gradually diminish in coverage during the day Tuesday, but cold conditions will occur along with a biting wind.
A slow warming trend should then occur for the second half of the week.
