Health Dept. Confirms 5 New COVID-19 Cases

WILCOE, W.Va. – McDowell County Health Department Officials have confirmed 5 additional cases of COVID-19 on Thursday afternoon December 10, 2020, bringing the overall total cases to 750 with 102 being active.

The 5 new cases today are attributed to community spread. Our 102 active cases are located throughout the county. Currently, 6 of our active cases are hospitalized with 1 of those being on a ventilator. PLEASE follow the recommended guidelines when you are out in public.

The Health Department is working to identify all contacts to these cases. Anyone who is identified as being a contact will be notified by the Health Department. If you are identified as an official contact by the Health Department, please follow all guidelines given to you. Following these guidelines will help to protect others and helps to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The McDowell County Health Department urges all residents to do your part to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings, avoiding large crowds, and washing your hands frequently. The Health Department will continue to keep you updated on this fluid situation through Facebook as well as through local media partners.

Due to Federal HIPAA guidelines, no other information about these cases will be given.
