Flooding Reported Across McDowell County, Southern West Virginia

MCDOWELL COUNTY, W.Va. – Heavy, constant rain over the weekend led McDowell County rivers and streams out of their banks and into communities across the region.

The McDowell Street underpass in Welch filled with water this morning but unlike last year, traffic is being diverted across the now repaired Hobart Street.

An ATV came to the rescue, pushing a foundered car out of the Coney Island underpass this morning.

Division of Highways workers are out in force today, clearing debris from WV Route 80 and responding to other areas.
