Sadly, I must report the passing of my wife of 54 years, Doreen Helen (Luke) Wright of Peoria, AZ., age 76 on February 19th, 2021 at 10:07 pm due to complications brought on by Dementia. Formerly from Excelsior, WV she is the daughter of Bill Luke and Ella (Marlowe) Luke. Both parents and her only brother Billy Luke are deceased. Doreen’s mother and father were married in England and Doreen was born on April 13, 1944 Carshalton, England, a town with a historic village center, in the London Borough of Sutton, in South London, England.
After migration to the US with her mother in 1945, Doreen attended both the War Grade School and Junior High School, and graduated from Big Creek High School in War, WV, class of 1962. After high school she attended and graduated from the Little French Beauty Academy in Bluefield, WV.
Married to Arthur E. Wright of Cucumber, WV on September 25th, 1966, she was a loving mother and devoted wife who was actively involved with quilting. A fun loving, caring, and big-hearted individual; she never met a stranger, hugged everyone she met, and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Doreen is survived by her husband Arthur Wright, her sons, Steven Wright and Jordan Wright, and her aunt, Eva P. (Pauline) Luke of War.
Per Doreen’s wishes there will be no formal service. Her remains will stay with her husband until he passes and both will be placed together in the National Memorial Cemetery in Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AR 85024.
