NORTHFORK, W.Va. – Over nine months, Grayhound Youth Sports, Volunteer WV and volunteers honored local heroes and front line workers in Northfork, WV by giving snacks to all.

“The goal of the project was to be kind and do something great for our local heroes in the community, serving and putting their life on the line daily during these COVID-19 days,” said Nate Smith, Director of Grayhound Youth Sports. “I am always glad to help someone who is serving and helping our community in this time.”

Due to COVID-19 protocols, Smith was unable to meet some essential frontline workers but wanted them to know they have not been forgotten.

“We honor you too for your service and staying safe,” said Smith.

Ever humble, Smith said he could not have done the project without the help of multiple volunteers over nine months and local catering and carry out businesses for supporting the project.

“I thank everyone for taking part in this project to bring smiles and to spread kindness,” said Smith. “It doesn’t take a lot to say thank you for the ones who have worked hard for us during these times and still are.”
