Curtiss Gibson, 78 years of age of Jolo, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Born November 16, 1943 in Blackey, VA, he was the son of the late William Bill Gibson and Maudie Kennedy Gibson Mullins.
Curtiss was a retired coal miner, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and ginsenging. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Carrie Cooper Gibson, second wife Betty Ann Addair Gibson, sister Peggy Lynn Hatfield and brother William Albert Gibson.
Survivors include his loving wife of ten years Linda Ann Steel Gibson of Jolo, WV; daughters Kimberly Sue Payne and husband David of Galax, VA, Carrie Dianna Johnson and husband Anthony Salyers of Galax, VA; sons David Wayne Gibson and fiancé Patricia Sheets of Galax, VA, Tony Curtis Gibson of Galax, VA; step-daughters Angie Roberts and husband Stephen of Bradshaw, WV, Tammy Southern and husband Chris of Asheboro, NC; sisters Ruby Adkins of Jolo, WV, Lilly “Jean” Hatfield and husband Luther of FL; brothers John Gibson and wife Retha, Steve Gibson and wife Shirley all of Jolo, WV.
He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Curtiss Gibson will be held at the Family Worship Center in Jolo, WV, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Junior Cooper, Johnny Cooper, and Phyllis Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Gibson Family Cemetery on Wolfpen Road, Jolo, WV.
Active pallbearers will be his family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Family Worship Center, Friday, February 11th after 6:00 p.m. with evening service to be held at 7:00 p.m.
