Otto C. Bailey passed away in peace and love in the arms of the angels holding his daughter’s hand in the early morning hours of February 10th, 2022 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. Otto was born in Iaeger, West Virginia on April 25th, 1953. He lived much of his youth in Chicago, Illinois. Otto returned to the mountains of West Virginia after serving in the US army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked in the coal mines for many years with his father, as he started his own family, meeting and marrying his one true love, Mary Lou.
Otto provided for his family as an HVAC Engineer in Arlington, Virginia for over 20 years. Later in his life he took great pleasure in spending quality time with his grandchildren, creating fun and loving memories in every way he could. They were his greatest joy on earth. Toward the end of his life he devotedly served as a caregiver for his father, mother, and wife.
In life Otto was described as a good family friend, a man of God and was passionate about his spirituality. Otto was always up for a challenging debate. He had a very unique sense of humor and can be fondly remembered for being quote. “Not always right, but never wrong.” Otto was a lover of music, motorcycles, toy trains, coffee, little debbie snack cakes, sci fi, dogs, Green Bay Packers, and gardening. Otto will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Otto is preceded in death by his baby sister, Sharon Bailey, father, Elmer Bailey, and beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Loutishia Muncy Bailey.
Otto is survived by his mother, Millie Bailey, daughter, Angela Marie Bailey and wife Hillary Korta, son, Cecil Lee Bailey and girlfriend Carlisa Brannan, granddaughter Anah Violet Bailey, grandsons Axl Jameson Bailey and Aidrian Salazar-Zamora, mother of grandchildren, Rozzana Zamora, sister Dorothy Brown and husband Milton Brown, brother Clenten Bailey and wife Marilyn Bailey, many nieces, nephews, brother in laws, sister in laws, cousins and his beloved fur daughter Minnie Moose.
Arrangements for a memorial service to be held on March 19th at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC.
