Jerry Allen Underwood, 70, of Caretta, WV, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington. He fought a good fight, He kept the faith, Amazing Grace has won the race. Born April 18, 1951 in Caretta, he was the son of the late Jake and Alice Underwood.
Jerry was a former employee at the Olga Coal Company District 29 in Caretta for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Curt Underwood.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 52 years Shirley Ann Underwood of the home; two sons, Allen (Kelly) Underwood of Caretta, Jay Underwood and companion Amanda Miller of North Carolina; two daughters, Kim (Joel) Stanley of Newhall, Jeri Ann (Roger) White of Warriormine; one brother, Tivis (Linda) Underwood of Caretta; six grandchildren, T.J. (Carrie) Underwood, Michael Joe (Traci) Underwood, Cody (Megan) Underwood, Bethany (Jarrett) Cochran, Shane Timmons, Anneliese Underwood and fiancé Shawn Woolridge; two extra granddaughters, Miranda Osbourne and Sarah Watkins; ten great grandchildren, Aiden, Micah, Leo, Silas, Isla, Mikaela, Tanner, Rylan, Hayden, and Brynlee.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Berwind Pentecostal Christian Center in Berwind with Pastors Shane Timmons. Randy Campbell II, and Joel Stanley, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartwell Cemetery at Hartwell.
Friend may call at the church Thursday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be T.J. Underwood, Jarrett Cochran, Michael Underwood, Cody Underwood, Frankie White, Roger White and Aiden Underwood.
Services will be held in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, masks are to be worn by all attending and social distancing is to be practiced.
