LECK BLEVINS, JR.

Leck Blevins, Jr. 79, of Avondale, WV, gained his angel wings on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 surrounded by his family at his home.

Leck was born August 23, 1942, in Avondale, WV, a son of the late Leck Blevins Sr. and Bookie Marie Samson Blevins. 

In addition to his parents, Leck was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Renea; brothers, Robert Blevins, Ivan Blevins and Raymond Blevins and an infant grandson, Noah Reed.

Leck served in the US Army from 1962 to 1965, ranking as an E5 Sgt. in the 107th Armored Calvary.  He was a member of the Welch National Guard from 1965 to 1968.  He worked in the coal mines for 23 years.  Leck is a member of the UMWA and American Legion.

Leck was a devoted Christian and his faith never waivered. He was a long serving member of the High Knob Church of the Living God, where he volunteered for the Little Shepard Food Pantry.  He enjoyed serving the Lord, spending time with family, grandbabies and friends.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and rock collecting.  He was a lover of the outdoors and setting on the front porch telling his life stories.    

Those left to cherish his memories include his loving wife of 54 years, Connie Sue (Estep) Blevins of the home; one son, Randal Scott Blevins and wife Selena and two grandbabies Abby and Beth all of Avondale; one daughter, Tonya Michelle Blevins Reed and husband Mack and five grandbabies, Emily, Sarah, Garret, Matthew and Lauren all of Dallas, NC; siblings, Arland Blevins and wife Gayle of Avondale, Lonnie Blevins and wife Ella of Premier, WV Phyllis Deskins of Indiana, Darrell Blevins and wife Linda of Avondale, Carl Blevins and wife Dee of Avondale, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also, he is survived by sister-in-law, Becky Parde of Bartley, WV; and special friends, Jean and Rusty Mullins of Iaeger. Special thanks to Linda Blevins, Amedisys Hospice Staff and others for their prayers and support.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 13, 2022 at 12 noon with Pastor Rusty Mullins and Pastor Danny Bowles officiating at the Independent Church of God at Avondale. Burial will follow in the Blevins Cemetery, Ritter Hollow near Avondale, WV. Pallbearers will be Randal Blevins, Mack Reed, Garret Reed, Matthew Reed, Billy Waldron and other family and friends.  Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1144.

Friends may visit with the family Saturday evening from 5 p.m. until 12 midnight at the Independent Church of God at Avondale, WV.

Services will be held in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, mask are to be worn by all attending and social distancing is to be practiced.

Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, WV, is assisting the family. Flowers will be handled by Butterflies and Blossoms in Iaeger.
