WELCH, W.Va. – After last week’s special meeting to discuss the County’s fiscal budget hurdles, the McDowell County Commission called an emergency meeting this morning to approve the upcoming fiscal year budget.
“The first item on the agenda is the budget,” said Commission President Cecil Patterson. “We had some discussion on this the other day. At this time I’d like to entertain a motion to go into executive session.”
All discussion was held during the 45 minute executive session. No reason was given for convening the executive session.
“The Commissioners discussed, with the Prosecutor, the finances of the County,” said Patterson. “At this time, the Commission will entertain a motion to approve the budget as presented that will require $604,605 backfill from the ARP money and also allow a payment of $303,675 to the jail bill and give the County Administrator to work out a pay schedule with the Regional Jail Authority.”
Commissioner Brooks motioned to approve and was seconded by Cody Estep.
