Connor Hall “Bill” Hayes

Connor Hall “Bill” Hayes, 98, of Bluefield, died peacefully Friday afternoon, April 1, 2022, at Princeton Community Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born September 10, 1923, in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Connor H. Hayes Sr. and Bertha Pendleton Hayes.

At a very young age, during the war, Bill worked with the U.S. Postal Service, he then began a long career with Prudential Insurance as an agent/broker in the Bluefield area. After retirement, he worked with the International Understanding program at Bluefield State College for several years.  Bill was a member of the Free Pentecostal Holiness Church. While his health permitted, he loved to travel all over the world, going to car shows, watching NASCAR and Virginia Tech Football. Bill was a people person, never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He loved God, his family and his church family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his 

first wife, Elizabeth Hayes.

Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife 

of 22 years, Virginia Bernice Baber Hayes;

Son, Douglas;

Sisters-in-law, Dafney Peters, Clara Burmmett (Raymond);

His best friends, Connie Collins and Jack Bundy;

His two dog legged friends, Gizmo and Kissy Fur;

His extended business family in Tazewell.

A service of celebrations will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 8, 2022, from the Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Joyce Tedder and David Barnette officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.  Friends may visit with the family Friday from Noon until the service
