McDowell County Unofficial Primary Election Results

WELCH, W.Va. – The unofficial Primary Election results for McDowell County were tallied Tuesday night.

Out of McDowell County’s 11,562 registered voters, only 2,154 voters turned out for the Primary Election. 559 Republican ballots were cast, 1,540 Democratic ballots were cast, as well as 55 Non-partisan ballots were cast.

Unofficial Republican results were as follows:

For U.S. House of Representatives 1st District, Carol Miller received 309 votes, Zane Lawhorn 167, Scott Fuller and Kent Stevens both received 8, and James Edwin Houser 3 votes.

For State Senator 6th District, Mark Maynard received 198 votes, Sabrina Grace 143, and Wesley Blankenship with 104 votes.

For House of Delegates 34th District, Mark Dean and Big John White both received 1 vote.

For House of Delegates 36th District, Tom Acosta received 242 votes and Anita Hall followed with 241.

For State Executive Committee 6th District Female had no candidate filed but 2 write-in votes were cast.

For State Executive Committee 6th District Male, Marty Gearheart led with 239 votes, followed by Mark Maynard with 213 and John William Preece with 66 votes.

For Circuit Clerk, no Republican candidate filed.

For County Commissioner, Martin B. West received 413 votes.

For Congressional Executive Committee District 1 Female, no candidates were filed but one write-in vote was cast.

For Congressional Executive Committee District 1 Male, no candidates were filed but one write-in vote was cast.

For Senatorial Executive Committee District 6 Female, no candidates were filed.

For Senatorial Executive Committee District 6 Male, no candidates were filed but 1 write-in vote was cast.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 34 Female, no candidates were filed.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 34 Male, no candidates were filed.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 36 Female, no candidates were filed.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 36 Male, no candidates were filed.

For County Executive Committee Big Creek Female, no candidates were filed.

For County Executive Committee Big Creek Male, no candidates were filed.

For County Executive Committee Browns Creek Female, no candidates were filed.

For County Executive Committee Browns Creek Male, S.P. “Pat” McKinney received 60 votes.

For County Executive Committee North Elkins Female, no candidates were filed but one write-in vote was cast.

For County Executive Committee North Elkins Male, Anthony Julian received 92 votes.

For County Executive Committee Sandy River Female, no candidates were filed.

For County Executive Committee Sandy River Male, no candidates were filed.

Unofficial Democrat results were as follows:

For U.S. House of Representatives 1st District, Mr. Lacy Watson received 665 votes.

For State Senator 6th District, Tiffany Clemins received 618 votes.

For House of Delegates 34th District, Mark Colegrove received 2 votes.

For House of Delegates 36th District, Ed Evans received 1,135 votes.

For State Executive Committee 6th District Female, Anita Skeens Caldwell led with 453 votes, followed by Deb McCarthy with 365, Phyllis White with 335, Madison Ramella with 110, and 3 write-in votes.

For State Executive Committee 6th District Male, Marcus Wilkes received 862 votes, Robert Ofsa had 257 votes and also 2 write-in votes were cast.

For Circuit Clerk, Francine Spencer received 985 votes.

For County Commissioner, Michael D. Brooks received 1,096.

For County Clerk, Donald L. Hicks received 847 votes followed by Tammie G. Bailey with 611 votes.

For Congressional Executive Committee District 1 Female, no candidates were filed but 7 write-in votes were cast.

For Congressional Executive Committee District 1 Male, no candidates were filed but 12 write-in votes were cast.

For Senatorial Executive Committee District 6 Female, no candidates were filed but 2 write-in votes were cast.

For Senatorial Executive Committee District 6 Male, no candidates were filed but 4 write-in votes were cast.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 34 Female, no candidates were filed.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 34 Male, no candidates were filed.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 36 Female, no candidates were filed but 2 votes were cast.

For Delegate District Executive Committee District 36 Male, no candidates were filed but 4 write-in votes were cast.

For County Executive Committee Big Creek Female, no candidates were filed.

For County Executive Committee Big Creek Male, no candidates were filed.

For County Executive Committee Browns Creek Female, no candidates were filed but 2 write-in votes were cast.

For County Executive Committee Browns Creek Male, no candidates were filed but 3 write-in votes were cast.

For County Executive Committee North Elkins Female, no candidates were filed but 8 write-in votes were cast.

For County Executive Committee North Elkins Male, no candidates were filed but 3 write-in votes were cast.

For County Executive Committee Sandy River Female, Linda Lester White received 198 votes and 1 write-in vote was also cast.

For County Executive Committee Sandy River Male, no candidates were filed but 2 write-in votes were cast.

The unofficial results for the Non-Partisan races were as follows:

For McDowell County Board of Education, Mark Shelton received 908 votes, Larkin Rippeth received 641 votes, Angela Robinette received 618 votes, David Williams received 594 votes, Kevin Wade received 567 votes, Jill Goins received 536 votes, Roberto “Tacoman” Diaz received 315 votes, W.J. Proffitt received 213 votes and 3 write-in votes were also cast.

For Conservation District Supervisor, Randall Patton received 1,101 votes and 4 write-in votes were cast.

These unofficial results will be confirmed by the Election Canvassing Board at a later date.
